About:Bill Burgwinkle is a specialist in Medieval French and Occitan literature, gender and sexuality, and critical theory. PhD from Stanford University. He is currently the President of the UK Society for French Studies.
Teaching interests:Medieval literature, the intersection of history and literature, theories of sexuality and the body, queer theory, film and the visual arts.
Research interests:Comparative medieval literature (French, Occitan, Italian & Catalan), Occitan networks and biography, the intersection of history and literature, theories of sexuality and the body, queer theory, film and the visual arts.
Recent research projects:He is currently working on Occitan para-poetic texts and networks, and completing a co-authored book on Medieval French Literary Cultures outside France, the outgrowth of an AHRC Research project.
