As our work centres on LGBTQ+ research and research cultures, we know that it is vital to have a solid backing of social support to meet our specific needs. The University has a range of social groups and professional networks to this end.  If you are running a LGBTQ+ professional network in any of the departments or schools here at Cambridge, and you would like it to be listed here, please drop us a line.

Cambridge SU LGBT+

(Undergraduate)

A Cambridge University Student Union autonomous campaign run by a students within the university. They run a range of social and educational events.

(Graduate)

A facebook group with details of CUSU LGBT+ events for graduate students, mature students, post-docs, etc.

LGBT+ Staff Network

(Staff)

The LGBT+ Staff Network provides information and support to staff, assists with the co-ordination of diversity events and helps the University to progress equality. They also organise social events.

CamLibQ+

(Library staff)

While there is already a University-wide LGBT+ Staff Network, the Libraries community benefit from their own group to facilitate contact between LGBTQ+ staff at different libraries, to raise awareness of our presence, and to create a space where we can meet and share library-specific experiences. Please note that CamLibQ+ is open to *all* university or college library staff.

LGBT and Straight alliance

(Hospital staff)

A staff group of LGBT staff and straight staff allies launched in 2013 on IDAHOT with a Rainbow balloon race to promote LGBT equality that meets quarterly and is chaired by Stephen Pye, Training Manager; Monica Jacot E&D lead is Secretary.

Cavendish Prism

(Department of Physics)

The Department of Physics at the University of Cambridge is proud to announce the launch of Cavendish Prism - the department’s LGBTQ+ network.  The aim of the network is to support LGBTQ+ members of the department through social events, visibility initiatives and representation within the department. The network was made possible with support from the Cavendish Community Forum and the Head of the Department.
